Can iPod feed your car stereo? does it come with an adapter that would let it do that ? or What kind of adapter would one need to connect it to a car stereo? just curious ... if it was easy, it would be a good selling point for me.

Thanks in advance.

There's a product called iRock. It's also sold at Apple Stores (or at least the one I visited in Massachusetts); I have one and believe it's a worthwhile gadget. Retails for about $30.
Hope this helps/e

there are mixed reviews of the irock, if you want great sound, ie the same quality that you hear in you head phones, get a stereo with a mini in, I did and it sounds great, way better then any am/fm transmitter, very cd like sound. The head unit was a JVC 50 wattx4, fold down Cd player, for only 179 great sound and over 1000 songs!

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

Can't you just pick up one of those tape cassette things that you slip into the deck and then plug it into the iPods headphone out plug? I have one I use with my Rio in my car and it sounds great.

Yes, if you have a tape deck.

And if you want it to sound like shït.
I have a GM Delco Bose radio, that has no tape deck, but it does have a DC Changer input, now I believe that someone makes a wire harness that lets you connect RCA audio inputs to this radio. Hooking up an iPod to that should be easy. Now I hope the iPod doesn't cook during those hot summer days.

Perhaps it depends on the stereo you have, i use my ipod with a sony cassette adapter and a grundig head and it sounds almost like a cd. i put the volume on the ipod to almost max so i don't get any noise.

BUT, i tested this same adapter and ipod in my dads ford scorpio with a stock blaupunkt stereo and it sounds awful!

Well, I just blew a half hour looking at T-Birds and GT40's. nice link

Direct input is best. A deck with the option for a changer should have a dual RCA adapter available. Check your deck's maker.

I have a Pioneer Supertuner and I got an adapter from Pioneer for 40 bucks. Plugs into the back of the deck, where a changer would go, thru an RCA-Y to a 1/8" stereo plug into the audio out of the 'Pod. I've also seen adapters for Sony, Blaupunkt, Alpine.

You can get the RCA to 1/8" cord at Radio Shack for 5 or 6 bucks, or get a Monster Cable that works as well as the other for 20 bucks... Either way, it beats driving around with 70+ CD's in the car.

You guys are great thanks.

I need to get the RAM 250 'shred van of rust' wired soon - I can't stand it no more!

Used to care about hardware when an original proto JTM 45 that's really a 100 (Jim Marshall) was my amp, those days are gone though the amp increased in value about 24x, and I am thinking about putting it in the van!

Yes I have a tape deck but no CD (hence the iPod interest) - the thing is a JVC I think, with a removable face. I'll follow up some of your suggestions.
