Hey everyone I am finaly thinking of replacing the best CD burner in the world . My old SCSI 4X Lacie that has never burnt a bad CD ( well there have been two but due to the CD media. ). I am very interested in the CWR-F1s from Yamaha and had a few questions. They mention in the adds that it can burn live audio. But there is no mention on their website about that feature or in any review I have seen. Is this true and does that feature work on mac? When will the FireWire version be released and how much will it cost.

Thanks.

I too was very interested in the new Yamaha CRW-f1. Im getting soon a new dual G4 and planned on putting a second CDRW in the second slot.

I have a Yamaha firewire 20x10x40x. there were issues I needed to clarify re toast 5.1.4 so I called Yamaha. the techs were helpful, but they pointed out: Yamaha does not support Toast, and does not support OS X.

I got the Yamaha2200fxz from J&R and they gave it to me for $10 less than the 149 price, so with the rebate, it was only 80bucks. I think toast will support it as soon as they come up with a 10.2 updater.

also, if you are copying CD's one to one, your apple burner does not go above 32x for the CD Coombo, or 24 for the superdrive.

and the laser writing is on the 'burned' side so you may not see it in a case for the F-1.

hope this helps look up the tech number on the Yamaha support page and ask them about the f-1 rotuts
