This is from my girlfriend, who is having problems with her Epson Stylus Photo 820 in OS 10.1.5:

"I am trying to print from AppleWorks, which I
have done recently with this printer. After clicking 'print,' a screen
briefly pops up to show that the information is being sent. However my
printer does not respond at all, and no error messages show up. My power
light is on, not flashing. None of the other lights are on. I ran a test
print, which worked. I have restarted my computer and my printer twice,
and have tried every available solution on Epson's troubleshooting page.
Only sometimes does the printer make 'start-up noises.'"

She has reinstalled the drivers, directly from Epson's site...to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
I'm the operator with my pocket calculator.

My 820 sometimes makes startup noises and sometimes it doesn't. Don't think it has much to do about anything. Mine worked just fine under 10.1.5 as it does now in Jag as well.

My first thought was that, as silly as it sounded, you didn't have the printer on.

Wish I could help more. At least you get a "bump".

This happened to me too. Somehow, the print que got turned off. WHen I found it, there was like 12 jobs in there waiting to go. I have no idea how it got turned off. I had all the same symptoms you have.

While we are talking about the Photo 820, I have a question. I curently use the C80. I think it's performance is sub par. The colors dont look good, they are washed out and not accurate. I just got a 820 (free!) with my 17 inch iMac but havent opened it yet. Does anyone have experience with these two printers? I havent given up on the C80 because I just have this feeling that I am doing something wrong. The prints are really terrible. Which one should I keep? (the other will be inherited by my sister, who will also inherit my iMac 500 DVSE).
