Hello,

I have a SCSI DVD-ROM in my Linux PC, but have finally decided to move it over to my PowerMac G4. The Advansys/Initio controller I have is apparently not compatible with MacOS X, (though newer versions do have Mac drivers.)

Yes I know I should buy an Adaptec 2940, but I don't really want to shell out that much money.

BTW: Does anyone know what the optional SCSI controller that Apple ships with a new G4?

I'm not sure what they use in the G4's, but in the older systems, Apple did at one point use the ATTO line of SCSI products, like the Express PSC. Check their site out and cross-reference the models they sell on eBay and see what you can come up with. To my knowledge, most or all of ATTO's cards are OS 9/X compatible.
