I've got a problem that makes me feel like jumping off a bridge.

I have a b&w G3 400mhz with 768mb RAM. I have 2 USB ports, and NO USB hub.

I've never had a problem connecting my Rio 600 to my computer until about a month ago. I would always unplug the keyboard and then plug in my USB rio cable.

It just stopped. I launch itunes, nothing. Doesn't show up. The player has the connection light on it indicating USB connection.

itunes will not show my Rio 600 in 10.2, 10.1.5, or OS 9. I figured maybe the cable was bad. I let my mac friend seth borrow it. No problems, he sees it in itunes just fine, he even updates the firmware and copies music onto. I get it back home, try the same thing. NO GO again.

This time i unplug my mouse, plug in the rio 600 and reboot. I launch itunes 3, itunes says this "Untitled Media Device, does not have anything in the media module. Please check for media module" [not word for word] Still doesn't show. I plug back in the mouse. I unplug the keyboard, and plug in the rio600. Relaunch itunes. No warning, nothing this time.

I re-installed itunes 3, in both 10.1.5 and 10.2

I even have a brand new operating system on a recently formated drive partition. Still NO GO.

My rio600 works beautifully on all my computers except my Mac. WHAT THE *UCK am I doing wrong?

I'd format all the partitions on the machine and start fresh, but my work is more important than my music.

Any solutions? How can a stupid little crappy music player NOT work right? And Please don't tell me to get an iPod, i've heard it all before. Thanks.

Personally, I love my Rio 600 and have no desire to replace it with an iPod.

Anyway, try this: always turn on the Rio BEFORE you plug the USB cable into it. In my experience, the thing that messes up iTunes the most is when the Rio is connected but turned off.

still the same results. I'm thinking of sueing S3 (they made the Rio 600) over it. I know it's only $180, but I want to get a message across. I do not know a single person who has ever had very good success with syncing in the long run. Either on windows or Mac. Trying to get support out of them is like getting blood from a stone.

Hmm... bummer. It works for me (and mine cost less too...). You could try posting your question at www.rioworld.org to see if you get more suggestions.

Keep in mind that, in order to sue S3, you would probably have to travel to wherever they are located.

As far as suing don't worry about that. That's why I have three attoneys at my disposal at all times. Obviously it will cost more to sue than I would make in any lawsuit. I just want to help wake them up.
