My ipod froze up today. Scared the hell out of me. just out of the blue it froze. wouldnt respond when i plugged it into my computer just stayed frozen in one place. what could have caused this??? I rebooted it by pressing and holding all the buttons down and it appears to work fine now. Is this just something that can happen from time to time as a fluke or is there something wrong with it. I lost my receipt for it so if i have to return it i might have to heckle with the kind folks at the apple store. Its a 20gb ipod if that has anything to do with it. thanks :-D

I have had my pod randomly lock up about four times, and once was about three days after getting it. I haven't had any major probs so you are pretty much set.

BTW if you go to an apple retail store you will have no problems returning it if its busted, I repaced my origianal 5 gig for the same model and he didn't even ask for my recipt, just filled out the apple care sheet and walked out with a brand new pod.

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

Just as a quick note, you only have to hold the Play and Menu buttons to reset the iPod.

Mine freezes up about every other day, I don't know why, but it does. Reseting it works..

IMO I'd consider taking it back to your vendor in hopes for an exchange. If the thing's freezing every (other) day, I'd say there is something wrong with it.
