I have been trying to fix an issue that appeared with 10.2 (and now 10.2.1) that prevents me from burning to my internal Sony CRX185A1 32x10x40 CDRW drive via iTunes.

The drive wasn't supported before 10.1.5 but I was able to hack the prefs in order to get it working. With 10.1.5 Apple supported it natively (without Hexedit work) and now with 10.2.x is doesn't work...nor does that hack the formerly worked as a temporary fix.

Can someone help me to get this up and running? It burns fine via toast but saddens me that Apple is pathetic about supporting non-stock drives which have been out for ages and should work perfectly out of the box.

try xlr8

their FAQ section with CDROMs they have many updates to sony drives, if not post in their drive compatability section with all of your troubles and they will probably help you out
