I have a Sony VAIO with a Memory Schtick port.

My girlfriend has a Sony DV Camera w/Memory Schtick and an iBook 2001/600/12.1".

We'd like to get a Memory Stick card reader for her iBook (her DVCam can put clips and low res stills on the memory schtick).

Anyone know of a good reader that just plugs into the usb port? I need a usb flash memory key chain thingy but if i can find a good, small reader then it would be better because I'd rather use my laptops built in reader BUT use the reader/stick combo on machines that I use that just have usb. A plus would be if it were usb 2.0.

Or shoudl I just get myself a usb flash memory keychain and her a mem stick reader? It seems stupid since the keychains are nothing but a memory stick built with a built in reader, but not upgradable, and cost more than the 2 components put together!

At http://shop.store.yahoo.com/jandr/co...d-readers.html you will find a list of USB devices of various prices.
I would not buy from there, but it is good as a reference.

I can suggest you this reader made by addonics: A bit expensive, but has USB2.0 and broad compatibility.

There are also some Firewire readers (like this one or this other), but I think they are not worth their price.

Thanks for the reply..

Like a idiot I tried the Cig@r Pro 64 MB USB 1.1 for $39 at Fry's. It sucks. It doesn't do 1/2 the stuff the package says. All the literature was translated VERY poorly from Chinese. The software sucks a$$. And to top it off, it comes with a neck chain thingy that attaches to the CAP (i.e. not main body) so it's very easy to lose the frikkin stick but still have the cap

I think I'm going to just buy a smal NAME BRAND USB Memory Stick reader that can be plugged into a USB port and a Sony Memory Stick.

You gotta watch out for the Firewire readers - most of them require a 6 pin (power) connection. Most PC laptops (i.e. my Sony) only have 4 pin so it won't work.
