So I just ordered my Sony Ericsson T68i phone from Amazon today ($50 after rebates -- great deal if anyone's looking for one). So of course I also ordered a D-Link Bluetooth adapter from the Apple Store. Both devices are showing a ship time of at least a week, so I figured I'd shop around a bit while I wait. I've seen D-Link adapters for a bit cheaper on other sites (as much as $10 off the price, but then much more expensive shipping than Apple's free ground), and also other brands of USB Bluetooth adapters.

Can I use any Bluetooth adapter with Jaguar's Bluetooth support? Does it have to be this particular D-Link one? Does it have to say "Mac compatible" in the description, or is one Bluetooth adapter work the same as another as far as Jaguar is concerned?

All seem to be on backorder or taking just as long to ship out, so I'm not in a huge hurry,

Another question: where is the Bluetooth software in Jaguar? Does the Bluetooth pref pane only show up when an adapter is attached? I seem to have all the files installed as a search for Bluetooth turns up several items including pref pane and menu item folders, but there's no Bluetooth option showing up in System Preferences.

I bought my chip from my local retail store (SoHo). and yes, the pref pane only appears when the chip is connected to your machine

I've bought a couple of other dongle type USB adapters off eBay. They work fine with 10.2 and my T68i phone.

I got fed up waiting for the Apple DLink one. I guess my father can have it as a Christmas present
