OK. So I have a 10 gig iPod. I hooked it up to my iBook and it automatically transferred my iTunes library to the iPod. Now, I also have an original iMac that has an upgraded hard drive w/ approx. 8 gigs of music that is not on my iBook. How do I get the music to play on the iPod?? I've turned on firewire disc mode on the iPod and can mount it on the iMac via the network. I've even transferred a couple of gigs of music to it. Problem is, the iPod doesn't recognize any of it as accessable for play.

Can anyone help??

ok, this is admitedly not the most knowledgable of posts, because i'm not sure quite how your set up is run...

but i'm pretty sure you've got to throw the music on to the ipod through itunes for it to be able to see it... either that or you need an alias or something (*this is the part i don't know about*) because when you put the music on your ipod in disc mode it (obviously from your results) isn't noted by the music player part of the ipod... this is part of apple's security thing... (don't steal music). so, the easiest way is to just plug the ipod into your imac, but you can't do that, right? (no firewire)...

other ways...

thinking.

poocat,

you've got it right. no firewire on the iMac. I guess i could use this as reason to convince my wife it's time to go get that new 17" iMac at the Apple Store.

Hmmmm, don't think that one will work.

Here's my potential solution - no guarantees though.

Probably the best way to do it is to turn off the library consolidation on iTunes on the iBook. Then import all the songs on the iMac to iTunes. Then sync your iPod.

Easy Peasy.
