So I'm picking up some sort of Palm-based handheld soon which I need for data collection/organization mainly and one of the primary uses will be to database information with back-up/archiving done on my Ti.

Does anyone here have experience with a Palm-based, Mac (preferably OS X) compatible db solution?

I know about the Filemaker Pro/Mobile combo but even the edu pricing on that would be expensive for me. I also doubt I'm going to need that kind of horsepower.

Any suggestions? I think my files would contain no more than 30-40 fields tops.

most of you extreme mac addicts will nearly die when i suggest this, but just buy an old windoze box, there's a lot of DB stuff for it.

Have you looked at JFile? I think there's a FileMaker conduit for it. I can't remember at the moment, having ditched my Palm for a Newton a while ago.

HanDBase has a Mac desktop conversion app, it's kinda lame, as it converts to different formats, but it's a cheaper solution than Filemaker.
