I use a G4 at home to sort/sync my mp3's with my iPod (20gig model). At school, I need to shuffle BIG files about from various PCs to my home system and back..

My first thought was to partition my iPod into 2, an HFS+ half and a fat32 half..but that doesn't seem possible without killing the mp3 player functionality. My second thought is to just reformat the whole think to fat32 (using Apple's PC software).

But will that kill my Mac/iTunes syncing? I don't care about playing mp3s off the thing on a PC, just need to be able to use it as a firewire drive off both Macs and PCs while syncing mp3s from my G4.

Thanks!

I don't recall the name of the company or the product (that helps doesn't it?)

but before Apple released the iPod for windows there was a company that had software that would mount and let you use an iPod on windows.. it was xPlay, or something like that. I've given it a shot, and it would mount the drive in windows (the icon was ugly though)
