MACCENTRAL: Survey: consumers interested in Bluetooth benefits
This same exact story has been running for the past six years. Bluetooth has always been 'just around the corner'. Don't believe the hype.
While there is a demand for wireless devices, Bluetooth doesn't have the right combination of price, performance, size, power-consumption, and compatibility. Users don't want to worry about multiple, incompatible wireless networks intefering with eachother. 802.11 is way more prevailent and won't be replaced by a technology that isn't superior in everyway.
So many companies are wasting so much money on Bluetooth. *sigh* No wonder the US stock market took such a dive, venture capitalists have simply backed the wrong ventures. Bluetooth will become a case study in how standards and market pressures can not always be overcome with multi-year multi-million dollar marketing.
Has there been a single bluetooth product that has turned a profit for its manufacturer?
