I have a LaCie external 60gb firewire hard drive that isn't one of the newer generation (i.e. it has a blue plastic cover to it and is quite noisy). I would run it with my old G3 300 and it would intermittently cause my spinning beachball to not stop spinning, but everything would go back to normal once I rebooted - until it would happena again. I now have it plugged into my new G4 800 running Jaguar and all has been fine for the past month or so, until a few days ago when I got prompted to initialize/ignore the drive. I rebooted in OS 9.2.2 and ran Diskwarrior on it. Diskwarrior would freeze around step 8 of 11 but once I rebooted in Jaguar all was okay - for a bit. The most recent time I rebooted into OS 9 I was trying to copy some of the external drive onto my internal drive, and in the middle of this I got a message saying there were errors on it. I then started Diskwarrior once more, it froze at the point where it always does, and now when I reboot into either Jaguar or OS 9 I'm prompted to ignore/initialize.
Any thoughts?
