Search PriceWatch.com for...

Pioneer DVR104
and Pioneer DVR-104

Buy the cheapest one.

I got mine for $260.00 including shipping.

This is the apple superdrive currently shipping in new macs. Requires no drivers.
(DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW)

Nothin..... at least nothing significant, both work the same. (there is a slight difference in the bios) iDVD will work with both versions just fine.

Its very easy. Don't hesitate to get it.
On an AGP you open the case, remove the front cover, take off two screws pull the zip/cd assembly out do your bussiness and put it back in... I assume QS is similar...

The DVR-104 is a DVD-R Drive. As opposed to DVD+R.

You can get the specs online but it writes dvds at 2X

Its also the only dvd-r drive I know of that is 100% compatible, no hacks, and its bootable and is the apple "superdrive"... So you really dont have much of a choice. This is a great drive, techTV just recomended it for the pEEcee...

FYI, DVD+R drives can write at 2.4X but media cost 3X more.
