I used to have an external USB Sony Spressa 4x4x24. I hated that POS (sorry, off subject). Anyway, it worked in itunes, but not reliably at 4X due to the slow USB connection, so I took it out the case and replaced my internal DVD drive with it. Then it worked fine. Since then, I've upgraded to a Mitsumi 16x8x40 PC CDRW (I say that because it's not supported by itunes or finder burning, but works great with Toast). iTunes, like I said, doesn't recognize it, and when I check the preferences, it still says my Sony blah blah under the burner tab. How can I clear this or make iTunes rescan for a new drive? I've tried trashing the prefs, but to no avail.

Thanks
Seth

try here and check their data base for CD compatability, right now it is probably not suported but people have done hexedits and othe mods to the drivers so they got many drives to work when they aren't supported normaly.

hell i got my 40X12X48 sony buner to work perfectly in my lacie FW case.

Yeah, I was playing around a little last night with modifying the plugins, but still nothing. The plugin refers to "blah blah...QPS...blah blah", so maybe that plugin only works for external burners?

/System/Library/Frameworks/DiscRecording.framework/Versions/A/Resources/DevicePlugIns
