So, I have this 340mb microdrive. I can take pics with my Dimage 7, view them on the camera great.

/Enter Problem
Then, I put the drive into a sandisk USB CF card reader that can read the type II CF cards. I plug it in, and it comes up with a error that still makes my heart skip a beat. I believe it is something like "The disk you have inserted cannot be read" and then it gives me a couple options: Eject, ignore, and format I think. The thing is that it works on my buddy's Win2k box. I have tried formating the card in the camera numerous time. Is there something that I am missing, some magical trick? Pease help, I feel like a moron here.

Setup:
Powerbook G4 800 with 10.1.5
Dimage 7
First generation 340mb microdrive

Have you tried to download the images with the drive in the camera?

That would be too easy
Anyway, I don't have the cable. I personally think those cables are useless anyway.

I use a 340mb microdrive on my powerbook just fine, but I use a CF adapter and plug the MD into the PC card slot. Have you tried that? My hunch is that the problem is with the CF reacher, not with the MD>\.

have you got a smaller CF card you can try in the reader?

Have you got a different reader? I'm using a Kodak reader with OS X 10.2.1 and having good experiences but not with a microdrive- I don't have one of those

I have a 128 MB CF card that 10.2.1 no longer likes in my SanDisk USB reader. I get the same eject, ignore, erase message you get. This really sucks. I do have the USB direct connect cable, but that is much slower than the card reader. There is nothing on the SanDisk site about 10.2.x

from multipule reports saying that the sandisk is not reading their CF I think its a problem with the reader and 10.2 I sugest you invest in a Fire Wire CF reader, I got a Lexar and its about twice as fast with my CF type 1 card, try that BH products company thats where I got mine from.

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

I am seeing a similar problem with a 1GB Microdrive and a Imagemate USB reader...There are a couple of reports of the same thing in the Apple Discussions, and in there I found a workaround (far from a good solution)

Reboot the Mac with the Microdrive in the reader and it should mount just fine.

I also found that it would mount just fine if I rebooted into OS 9.. not really a solution as all the apps I want to use are in OS X now.

Thanks ids, that worked perfectly. So much better than using the usb cable!

I don't get it. You're still using USB, just a different cable, and you need to reboot, right? I'd stick to plugging the camera in.

heh, I wasn't clear. I meant so much faster using the SanDisk usb card reader than using the usb camera to mac cable.
