If I charge my iPod then hold down PLAY button til it goes to sleep and leave it like that for a few days its drains the battery all the way. Then when I go and use it its dead.

Is this a power managment bug in teh iPod?

Its driving me nuts!!!

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks.

Yes, I have this as well. It is believed to be an issue with the current OS version in the iPod from 1.2 upwards as this introduces the clock for the first time. Some people mention resetting the iPod and not setting the clock as a possible fix. However I guess this will mean iTunes does not list the last play time and date for each song correctly.

Anyone, please put me straight if I haven't got this quite right.

I had a feeling it had to do with the new software. Also I have the first generation iPod. Could this be the problem?

As far as i know it effects all iPods. (Mine is the new 10gb version). I guess we've just got to put up with it until Apple update the OS. Some people have downgraded back to version 1.1 as well.

God I'm so relieved now that I've found this thread !
I was beginning to think my iPod was dead (it'll be 1 year old at Christmas).
That has to be the 1.2 firmware indeed...
