I just read that there are drivers for about 190 HP printers at http://www.linuxprinting.org/tylerb/...dPrinters.html

I have an old HP 6L printer, but of course no usb, just the old fashioned pc-connector. Is there a way to connect this printer to my mac G4?

I have seen a parallel-usb cable included with the HP 1000w laser, is there a chance that this can work on os x?

A parallel-usb cable would be a great solution, and I think that OSX won't have a problem with it. My fear is that the laserjet won't work with it. I've heard that parallel to usb only works if the device that's connected supports this.
