Okay, I was getting my girlfriend speakers for her ibook at the local friendly Best Buy. Prior to going I had looked at the Altec Lansing 2100 system online. It looked sharp and I liked the specs. So I'm in Best Buy and they look better in person - I mean maybe it's just me, but the satellites look like they were made to partner the new MDD macs. Well, I want to see how they perform...so I fire in Blade 2 into my trusty dual gig, and watch a bit on my stereo I was using (Denon stereo mini system I had used since my freshman year in college - about 5 years) - sounded great. Then I went to the start of the chapter again, and hooked up these speakers. And WOW!!!!. I seriously felt bad for myself for the past few years. the sound is incredible - very crisp, clear, and its got serious power for it's size (and price). Needless to say, my girlfriend still doesn't have any speakers

BTW, these were $99 not including the $30 mail in rebate.

tough luck for your girlfriend

I am more of a compleat system man my self, I got a Dolby Reciver and some kick ass book shelf speakers that will shake the enitre dorm, and then once I build my sub this thing will really shake the living hell out of every thing,

My friend just got the Logitach 5.1 system with a total 400 watts, and it is rather impresive.

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

jeez, you guys are real audiophiles, I've got a crappy 50 Watt Sony receiver and 2 small JBL 50s plugged into my iBook and the sound from that puts the sound from any of my friend's stuff to shame. I hope I never get a chance to listen to a 400W 5.1 system, or I might have to spend some cash that I don't have.

loud isn't necessarily good. 400W doesn't really mean anything - look for a high quality amp and efficient speakers. for music i'd stay away from receivers, for surround sound - eh, i don't really care that much about the quality of audio from a movie so maybe loud is good.
one post closer to five stars
