I just got a new iPod. It came with version 1.2 installed, but it looks like there is a 1.2.1 update available. Can anyone tell me what the differences between 1.2 and 1.2.1 are?
thanks.

I didn't look this up. Just working off memory here, so please take with a grain of salt, 'til somebody else verifies...
But I believe the most recent incremental update was regarding battery life and the battery meter showing the correct charge state. With 1.2, many were reporting battery meters going from full to empty in minutes. i.e.: False full-charge readings.
I believe 1.2.1 corrected this.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember this as well. I don't think it fixed my iPod completely. Even after installing the update, mine will still go from full to empty and back to full in a couple minutes. Pretty strange.
The iPod keeps on playing though, so I'm not too worried about it.
Thanks for the reply.

mine does that as well - I've read somewhere that it's caused when the iPod is buffering the 32mb flashram. And then the iPod "works" harder than when just playing, and then the indicator shows that the battery won't last long...
Hope that made sence....

Where are you guys getting 1.2.1? I checked SW update, the iPod page on APple's site, as well as the downloads page--I didn't see it anywhere.
BTW, DST really screwed it up last night--it was about 8 hours off and 3 days behind.
It would be nice to get the update. I don't know how many times my iPod has shown 2 bars of battery life left, I start a song, and it completely dies 3 seconds later, literally. It is something that definitly needs fixing.

Does the x.2.2 update only limit sound output or are there more changes?

I think only the sound limited is the difference between 1.2.1 and 1.2.1. I haven't updated to 1.2.2 yet... I have no problem with the volume... But if you are going to find the difference, please post it here!
