I can heartily recommend the Firewire drives from LaCie. I have used 3 so far over the years and have had absolutely no problems with them.

I am partial to Sony CD-RW drives. I had a run with Yamaha, but didn't have good driver support. So up until about a year and a half ago, I've been with Sony. They make a good product at a fair price and the enclosures are rock solid. It has also worked flawlessly with 10.2 as I'm sure the LaCie's do too.

I got the EZ Quest Firewire CDRW specifically because it made a big deal about OS X support for iTunes and Disc Burner. Other drive's sites weren't too clear nor was Apple's website about support for both iTunes and Disc Burner. Also, they got a good rating from MacWorld. I like it. It is actually a Lite-On brand CDRW in the case.
iFinished therefore iBook!
