I just bought a Lite-On 48x12x48 CDRW and put it in a FireWire case, which was originally from a QPS Que! 8x CDRW. Mac OS X doesn't recognize the drive at all. I also had a 32x CDRW in the case a few weeks ago, and it worked fine, so I know it's not the IDE->FW bridge that's causing problems (limiting which drive can be used or anything). Toast 5.2 doesn't recognize it, either. What's going on? Do they have drivers for X?

From xlr8yourmac.com's drive DB:
Reviewer's Name: David Sperling
Date Submitted: 10/5/2002
Drive Type: CDRW
Drive Interface: Firewire
Drive Brand: Lite-On
Drive Model Number: LTR-48125W (48x12x48x) in FW case
Driver Used: Apple Standard
Mac Model: Apple G4 AGP Slot
Mac OS Version: OS X
Reader Comments: Drive installed in a Que-Fire 8x4x32 CDRW case and works flawlessly so far. I replaced the old plextor mechanism with a new lite-on 48x12x48 IDE drive ordered from Dell for $50.00.

recognized by iTunes and Toast 5.2. native Finder support for burning as well.
That's exactly what mine's not doing...same drives...even the same ordering place!
