Found out about it the other day. Its called Plucker (
http://www.plkr.org). Seems pretty cool. I've never used Avantgo, so I can't make a comparison.
It seems to have a decent viewer, and the parser/distiller is CLI, so you can run it under OS X with a crontab, copying files to your hotsync folder - kinda like a conduit
I tried out iSilo - it also has an OS X CLI utility (which I couldn't get to work) and a graphical utility - but it isn't free, and it might be a little harder to get it automated.
Anyway, the plkr OS X package is ok - it is a Java utility. I went through some trouble and had a go at installing the real Unix deal - was a pain for a non-expert for me, and shows little gains. i detailed that at this thread:

mac os x hints has an older thread for installing it - it is pretty easy and straightforward (read all the comments) but the graphics capability is left blank - and that is what I got stumped on. Anyway, with a little bit of work, this could be a free, pretty good answer to offline viewing.
