I currently own a Quicksilver 800 using OS X Jaguar. I am interested in using my computer for listening to streaming audio, CD's, and MP3's.
Would installing a sound card improve the sound. I plan to purchase a high end 3 piece speaker system and possibly later upgrade to surround sound. I could connect my computer to my home theater system as well. What are some good sound cards available for the Mac. Has anyone used the Sonica device and how does this differ from a sound card. Thanks

You could use a USB audio device, which theoretically should have less static since it's not on the motherboard. I use an Edirol UA-30 for its various inputs, but also use it for audio out just to be consistent.
