I'm debating which to get between these two displays, the positive of the Apple is that I can actually go into an Apple Store and see / use it, while with the Formac I would have to take the chance as it's not available at any retail store I'm aware of.
The pluses of the Formac are it's specs compared to the Apple display, and of course the price, you could buy two of the Formac's 20" for the price of one of the Apple 23" HD display.
I am concerned though about the fragility of the frame on the Formac which I've read about, at least on their smaller displays.
Has anyone actually compared the two displays?

Tough one. I have the 2010, and I'm very pleased with it. The best LCD image (contrast, color, brightness) that I've ever seen including the 23. I would say though, that if I had the money for the CD 23, I'd probably get it. I think I like to landscape orientation a little better. Do I think it's necessarily worth the difference in price? No, but If I wasn't price sensitive I'd probably get it. Make no mistake, the 2010, even with a slightlier less sturdy frame, is one awesome screen. It will blow you away. Incredibly bright, no dead pixels, very fast response.

i prefer the 2010s picture to the HD i saw sitting right next to it. Yes the HD is bigger and the widescreen is great, but im going to buy a second 2010 which comes to the same price as the HD... 3200x1200
ALso remember that 1920x1200 is a hell of a resoulution to drive a game if your that way inclined, at least 1600x1200 is a little easier on the graphics card (but still pretty hard i need a new mac for SOF2)

I've got a couple 23" LCDs. I considered Formac, but I havn't heard one good thing from their customer support. I tried to order one about a month ago, and basically got the run around on when one would ship. Presumably if you get a good unit, and have absolutely no problems with it, great. But what happens in a year when it breaks down?

agreed i was going to get the tv tuner version before I settled on the formac.. two problems
1. Couldn't find a store to demo it
2. Analog only
I dont particularly like the clinical PC look of the monitor only one with DVI
Anyway I still stand by 2x 1600x1200 should be enough real estate for a while. One day who knows games might even use it
