I fried the processor board on my DP800 Quicksilver so I bought a new DP867 "mirror door" machine.

I pulled the Superdrive from my DP800 but it will not fit in the lower bay in my new machine as it is too long.

The code on the Superdrive is DVR-103PB. Are the new Superdrives shorter in length?

Yes, the new super drives are shorter. I think the very newest ones are Pioneer dvr105 models.

Thanks for the information on the new shorter length Superdrive. I had hoped to save some money by reusing as much equipment from the old 800 DP machine.

I guess I will try and sell the old Superdrive as well.

I meant to add that the second generation superdrive(model # dvr104) that I put in my G4/466 was noticably shorter than the stock cdrw unit that it replaced. The DVR104 is the same unit that was used in the Quicksilver Macs. As I said in my other post, The MDD Macs use a third generation superdrive which may be even smaller than the second generation unit.

I have a Rev A Dual 800 quicksilver, it has a 103 model in it. I think the second Rev got the bump to the 104.
