Am I missing something, or isn't Image Capture supposed to be able to use TWAIN plug-ins?
Is there somewhere special that the plug-in needs to be in order for Image Capture to use it? Some arcane folder in the /Library folder?
The Canon Toolbox works, but I would like to use Image Capture for comparison if possible.

You need to copy the plugin in the various applications plugin folders. You can also do that by reruning the driver install program and select the program folders... It works perfectly

However, even if I put the TWAIN plug-in inside the Image Capture package (inside it's plug-ins folder) I can't get it to see the LiDE 30.
Is this an issue with Canon's drivers?

That's true, I can't find where to put the scanner plugin. There is a "Image Capture" folder in /Library though.
Sorry.

If you select the Image Capture application in the Finder and do a Get Info on it, there is a Plug-ins section in the dialog box. If you open it, you can click "Add" to add new plug-ins.
I have no idea if this will help make this particular scanner work, but it does seem to be the default way of adding plug-ins to apps that use them.

Good catch, you can add the plugin there.
But I couldn't use the scanner that way, not that I really want to, the default software is great.

For what it's worth, TWAIN here is used inappropriately. TWAIN is technically, strictly a SCSI only term.
Not important, I know. Still, thought it ought to be said.
Also, TWAIN stands for: Thing Without An Interesting Name.
No joke!

I thought it was Technology Without An Interesting Name.
Oh well.
Image capture is supposed to be able to use TWAIN plug-ins, but I don't think Canon modified their drivers appropriately for 10.2
The Apple docs on Image Capture TWAIN says that they have to be formatted appropriately for ImageCapture to take advantage of them.

I use it with Graphic Converter. Works great.
