I've installed OSX10.2 and bought a usb to parallel cable for my HP 6L laserjet printer. Then I've installed the linux printerdrivers from linuxprinting.org. Plugging in the cable, and adding the printer results in a screen where i can see HP6L as the only printer which is recognized, but I cannot select it to actually add it to the system. So I end up with nothing.
Does anyone know what to do? I heard about selecting a usb-port, but I don't know how to do this. I heard about holding down the option-key when clicking the add-printer button, but this doesn't change anything as far as I can see.
Any help appreciated!

Wel.... I may have found what the problem is. When I clicked on the add-button, I saw the name of the printer (HP laserjet 6L) and in the column type it said (in Dutch): "besturings... geinstalleerd", which means something like "driver installed", but abbreviated.
Then I had a brilliant idea, to change the language to english, so I could better explain what it said. In English it said: driver NOT installed So I was thinking the driver was installed, while it wasn't.
Still, that leaves the question how to install the driver, as I have installed the HPIJS-program.

I finally found the solution. If you click the add-button, you can select the connection method (IP or USB etc). In this menu should be an "advanced" option, but there wasn't any. I thought I should click on the add-button, but it was the add-item in the menu. If you click on it while holding down the option-key, there will be an extra item in the list.... the advanced option.
So finally I have my printer working.
