Let's settle this issue for once and for all. Who makes the best Palm based PDA? My company would like to hear your thoughts on the matter. I told my co-workers that the MacNN forums were the best source for reliable information.

Until Sony and Handspring come out with OS 5 devices, it seems to me that the Tungsten is in a whole different league from the rest.

Unless you're using OS 9...a client of mine just returned her Tungsten after all kinds of bugs with syncing in OS 9. The Palm folks admitted the software wasn't "optimized for OS 9". I don't see a big deal with Palm OS 5--still can't multitask!

My vote goes to the Clie--although I still prefer the older models like the T615C which I recently picked up at a discount. I wanted to buy a Handspring model since I own some (now almost worthless) shares of stock but I didn't really like the keyboard on the Treos and the screen wasn't as good as the Clies.

Does anyone out there own the new Sony Clie? I understand that it is a larger format than the tungsten and not as convenient to operate.

Is it also true that the Clie is not compatible with the Mac OS X?

Had a TT for about a week, the Sony NX70V looks lovely but won't be in the UK until Jan/Feb, obviously Sony don't like taking an Englishmans money

I wouldn't by the Sony for 2 reasons:

1. No Flash ROM, your stuck with OS 5.0 for good, 5.1 is nearly ready, it'll be on my TT by Feb for sure.

2. You have to shell out for the Missing Sync to use the funky NX features.

So I got the TT.

Love it so far, screen is excellent, love the D Pad navigation, the speed of OS5 and the ARM chip is incredible. Video plays back in Kinoma player at +300fps. Splash Photo is wonderful, essential for all TT owners.

My last Palm was a V, this thing just amazes me. I can walk around my house using ICQ on the TT via BlueTooth to my G4. Can't wait to get my BT phone in Feb.

Some minus points:

1. No MP3 player yet, but will be here in Dec for free.

2. Web Browser Pro sucks butt, but PalmSource has shipped there browser to licenses, guessing Palm will include in the OS 5.1 update.

Also PalmOS can MULTITASK, I can leave ICQ and jump to MemoPad etc and when a message arrives I can jump back to ICQ. Also apparently the MP3 player will run in the back ground whilst you continue to use the TT. This is multitasking correct??

Anyway, there's my 2c.

That was detailed coverage. I think you convinced me to finally to buy the TT. I currently have the Palm Vx. Thanks!

Has anyone any experience using the Clie with OS X? I've heard that it's not compatible with the Mac. What is the problem? Are there any workarounds?

If want a PDA with a cellphone and always on unlimited data access, the Treo 300 from Sprint with the unlimited Vision data plan is the PDA to beat. I love mine.

T Mobile has full GRPS support now, but no good unlimited data plan... Hopefully soon.

I'm using an older Clie (PEG-S320) with OS X on my iBook with no problems. I started out using Palm Desktop, but then switched to iSync. It works very well, although I'm not sure about memory stick access.

Here's a good forum which may help answer some questions:

Good luck!

Huh? Sony was the first one to release a Palm OS 5 handheld. The NR70V and the NR6V. They go for $499 and $599.. the $599 one has a digital camera.
