I have an 80 GB external FW HD I use for backups and external storage, but mostly for my Eye TV Archive. I have 2 questions:

1. Is it OK to leave it on and pluged in to my laptop all the time?
2. If I do eject it, how do I remount it w/o unpluging and repluging it in?

Thanks all - Robe

I leave mine on most of the time. Mine has a switch on the back to turn it on and off, otherwise you'd have to unplug it, and plug it back in.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

If you're using Mac OS 9, check the utilities that came with the drive. My Maxtor drive comes with software that lets me mount the drive.

In OS X, Disk Utility can mount drives for you. Pick the drive and then there's a menu option to mount it.
