Hi folks,

just got my new powerbook, which is my first mac for 6 years. I tried printing to the Laserjet 5n on my home network, but out comes gibberish.

I'd forgotten that macs only print postscript. So short of shelling out $300 for a ps simm (which I won't) and there aren't any suitable ones on ebay at the moment,is there a way for me to print to this printer using os x.

I do have an old pc, but that's shortly going to become a linux test box, so won't be of use. I'm looking for a way of doing this direct from the mac onto the networked Laserjet.

Any suggestions.

Thanks,

J.

Well, Macs may print to Postscript out of the box - but I can assure you that the millions of users using Epson and HP inkjet printers are not using Postscript

That said - I think Gimp-print or something like that may help. It comes with 3000 printer drivers, is free, and should work plain and simple.

Look at macupdate.com or versiontracker.com to see if you can find it.

Thankyou very much. Exactly what I was looking for. It didn't show up in the google searches I did.

I guess for somethings you need to know what you're searching for before you can phrase the search correctly.

I can now print.

Once again, thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Justin.
