I am looking to get a small external firewire hard dive for my iBook. I want it to be portable and just run on power from the iBook.

What drives are people using and which ones do you think are best?

I saw something called the Clever Box Firelight by IBM online but cannot find any info on where to get it.

Thanks so much!!

www.macsales.com (OWC)
www.transintl.com
www.fwdirect.com

www.dealmac.com has good deals sometimes)

I have bought my 2,5 inch external HD enclosure from OWC for my TiG4 and a 3.5 Firewire IBM HD from transintl. They have good prices and service.

Many vendors use the same HD (often IBM) and enclosures. The above have reasonable prices compared to other vendors IMHO.

Hope that helps

I got this enclosure for my TiBook. I think BareFeats rated it faster than most others. I put my original drive in it, and replaced it with a quicker, and bigger drive internally. Fwdepot has some other cool enclosures too. Good luck, and rember to enjoy .
