....I have an Epson C42UX, one day I tried to print while the usb cable was not connected to my iBook, it asked if I wanted to view the printing queue or something and since then the printer has not responded to commands from the iBook.

I've tried troubleshoooting the printer, it prints a test page, the Epson support website had no answers.

So if the printer seems to be OK, it could be the usb cable. Is there anyway to test if the usb cable is the problem? I have no other hardware to try it on.

Alternatively, is there a method to troubleshoot the iBook? I'm running OS X 10.1 and I've just reinstalled the driver that ran the printer perfectly before.

If it is the usb cable, would not the iBook pop a "check your connections" message?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Fastest solution would be to borough another USB cable (a "known-good") from a neighbour or so and check it out...

Go to Print Center.
Dbl-click the printer in the printer list window.
Click on "Start Jobs".

If that doesn't work, delete the printer and re-add it to Print Center.
