Does anyone have any recomendations on what UPSs will work with OS X. By work, I mean work natively through USB/firewire to automatically shut down the computer unattended in the event of a power failure.
I didn't realize that OS X supported any UPSs until I looked in System/Library/SystemConfiguration/USBUPSSupport.bundle
Any idea what models this file supports?
OS 10.2.2, BTW.

APC ( www.apc.com) has several models that are OS X (10.2) compatible.
The cheapest ones are the Back-UPS ES 350 and the Back-UPS ES 500.

You could go to http://www.powerguardian.com and check out what UPS's this software supports. I use a Belkin UPS with this software and it seems to work just fine.

Thanks for the responses, the one from the apple site looks good, although all of these seem to have their own software to control the UPS. Does anyone know of what the bundle I mentioned in the first post does? Are there any UPSs that work without adding additional software? I was expecting maybe an extra tab in the energy saver preference pane or something.

APC is THE company to go with in my opinion. They are the industry standard for quality and reliability from home to large-scale operations. If you don't want a USB unit, you can do what I have done and use a Web/SNMP adapter card that goes into the unit and can be used to trigger a network shutdown with a package called "APC Tracker" and you will be able to find it on VersionTracker.

APC BackUPS Pro USB (Clear) on my G4. It's saved my butt three times over the past month. Works with 10.2.
