the windows versions can be "switched" to the mac version with a firmware update. Very good deal. I got one ordered!

Actually you have to format the drive.

It also comes with that mini firewire plug.

The reformating is actually handled by the iPod software updater. Should be a pretty simple process to get that going.

Now if I could only convince the wife I need another one...

Once you convert it, you can't change it back to a PC version. But who cares, PCs will all be gone in 2003 anyway.

You can convert a Mac iPod to a Windoze iPod, but it is a bit more complicated than running a program.

There are some directions here.

Now why someone would want to do that is a mystery.
