I was just given a 4.3 GB internal HD from my neice's now deceased emachine (yuk!). I know I can buy a HD case for it so that I can use it as an external HD but my question is where should I buy the case or what do I need to know to make a good purchase.

Some information that might be helpful
1)I currently have a ibookSE (graphite) which has 1 Firewire and USB port.

2) The HD in question is a 4.3 GB Trigger (I believe, the sticker is partially removed). And as I said it came from an emachine.

I'm assuming that if I find a case to put it in that when I connect my ibook to the external HD it will ask to reformat the drive. Is this correct?

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

4.3GB, if it's not 2.5" form factor, you should just chuck it (not worth the trouble and money to convert it). But if you insist, here are some suggestions.

I am going to toot my own horn here, so take it with a grain of salt and do a little more research.

Since you mentioned e-Machine, I will assume this is a 3.5" form factor. Our latest FireXpress 250DX and 350DX (USB 2.0 + FireWire) will be the last external enclosure you will be needing for a while. These are the first units on the market to support any 137GB hard drive, and their FireWire repeaters don't drop daisy-chain.
