So how does the remote connect to the iPod? Is it through the headphone port or the FW? Does it work as a middle-man between the headphones and the iPod then? And does it work on any other mp3 players, or is this a totally proprietary idea?
The remote plugs into the iPod's headphone jack, then headphones plug into a jack on the remote itself. This is pretty standard for remotes on mp3 and CD players.
Won't work with other players (but neither will remotes made by anybody else -- there are no standard remotes that are usable between different companies' models as far as I know).
