I have had zero luck synchronizing my Palm IIIxe through the Keyspan serial/USB adapter with my PowerMac G3 B&W running Palm 4.0. It has never worked for anything. Has anyone had any luck with such a configuration? Should I look into getting a newer Palm with USB? Is this a serial/USB issue, or a "Palm's OS X software sucks" problem? I have never been able to synchronize with OS X.

I didn't have that exact setup, I had a G4 with a Palm IIIx, that worked just fine for Synching. unfortunatly my Palm broke after a nasty spill, and It didn't sync after that but the Palm didn't work either.
Naturally, make sure you have all the updated drivers and whatnot. beyond that, make sure that the computer actually sees the adapter in the ASP. THEN go into your HotSync manager and make sure you have the right thing selected. I recall when I first got mine it had a nasty habit of switching on me to ports that didn't exist.
Also, what version of OS X are you running?
2008 iMac 3.06 Ghz, 2GB Memory, GeForce 8800, 500GB HD, SuperDrive
8gb iPhone on Tmobile
