Anyone know how Maxtor pulled off their new FireWire 250 GB drive? It's got two drives, so I've heard, but you can't put two drives on a single FireWire to IDE bridge, can you? I tried it myself (with much smaller drives) and they wouldn't mount :-/ Do they bridge FireWire connectors inside or something?

Actually quite simple...

Check www.maxtor.com and you will find that Maxtor has 200GB/7200RPM and 250GB/5400RPM 3.5" disk drive mechanisms.

Special version of Oxford bridge is required for any IDE drive larger than 128GB, so they probably have that too.

As do other companies like LaCie, OWC, and a few others.
