I just ordered a Newton 2100. I'm very excited. Payment goes out tomorrow.. I know I could have gotten a "Modern" PDA for As much as I paid.. but I am certain that such a device won't stand up to a Newton...

I am looking foreward to wireless websurfing and writing email and all that jazz from the couch, the Bed, the Bathroom. Where-ever I choose.

(No I didn't have the cash for a notebook)

That is awesome. I would really imagine it's great. I really liked my Newton 120 w/ 2.0 and when it came out I had a Motorola Power 14.4 modem for it and a cell phone adapter (of course only worked on analog Mot. phones, as digital wasn't available in the U.S. yet ;-)). I also had a StyleWriter II installed in the trunk of my car with a serial cable routed to the driver's seat and power via a DC/AC inverter. I could get a fax or email at 80 and immediatly print it :-D

What a nice flexible system. I'd own a Newton 3000 if they were out!

My ONLY problem with it was that it was too slow, I hope the 2100 is much faster (and it should be from the processor). Is it an Apple or Newton Inc. unit?

Congrats! I just got a 2100 not long ago and am really enjoying using it. Quite a nice PDA. And wireless surfing with it does rock.

Thanks for the support, yes I have joined Newtontalk
The unit cost me $141 including shipping. I just sent out payment today, so I do not have the unit yet. I'm told it will be in decent condition with the screen door in place and comes with an AC adaptor, a Battery (no Guarantee though) a couple of Cheap Stylii, and a connection cable. I bought the PC cable with the built in dongle, because I have a Keyspan USB PDA adapter I was using for my Palm IIIx before it broke. I've read that such a connection works fine.

On top of that, on eBay Yesterday I bought a Wireless lan card for $48 including shipping, and an Airport card at $80 including shipping. My plan is to place the Airport card in my Mac and use it as a Basestation so I can wirelessly surf, check email, all that jazz. These were the best prices I could find and I took advantage of the "Buy it now" options. I think that I really couldn't have found an Airport card for that little anywhere else. I don't care if it's used or not as long as it works. I think with some ingenuity I could even set stuff up to wirelessly control my computer. There's even a VNC client for Newton!
I'm very excited.

Just out of interest where can one purchase a Newton from these days?

Are you talking about eBay by any chance or do you mean that someone is selling brand new ones?

Unfortunately, no one is selling any new ones but you can find quite a few on eBay.

And a company called J&K Sales has a number of options available for getting a 2100 and it's accessories. I ordered mine from there and was very pleased with the condition (like new) and the life of the battery. If you're looking to get a Newton, I'd check them out.

I want to know where to get an eMate. I don't want to use it, just place it on the shelf and gawk over it.

"Hello, what have we here?"
