I want to move into the LCD flat pannel display area. I don't have a lot of desk space, so I want to have a small footprint. Also, I don't want to buy an Apple monitor b/c I hear they are bad. I want to have two new LCD monitors because I keep some server apps open all the time, and would like to have extra space for those windows. I'm over CRT's.

Are there any companies other than Apple that make good 17 inch LCD displays that utilize the DVI connection.

If not, how would you reccomend setting up a two display system (vieo card is my main question).

I was thinking of using the AGP video card in my system now and then buying a PCI for the other. Is there a company that makes OSX/Apple specific cards that have two VGA outputs instead of one VGA and one DVI? I don't want to be limited to DVI b/c of Apple's monitor quality. I don't want to have to buy two cards, one for each monitor. I would like to be able to utilize quartz extreem on both.

Thanks for the info,

L

I wouldn't say the Apple Displays are bad. Quite the contrary actually, the quality is pretty good. And they're (obviously) one of the very few ADC monitors out there.

Just about everyone sells DVI monitors. It's ADC that is Apple's baby.

However, they are overpriced. I bought a Samsung 172T and am quite happy with it. Matches my TiBook (both in looks and with DVI), and much cheaper than the Apple 17". Quality is similar or superior.
