I just recently got the harman/kardon soundsticks for my ibook. They work woderfully(Nothing like pumping Ben Folds at unhealthy sound levels)

Anyway, I was wondering if there was any way to toggle between the built-in stereos and the soundsticks other than just pulling the USB out of the side or going through system prefs. For example, would there be a way to get the option on top next to the time?

I'm pretty sure I'm not using the technical lingo here...but any help would be nice. Thanks.

While I do not have them, I think that you should be able to select the output device in the sound control panel pane. If you can do this, there must be a way of getting it into a menu, but it would likely take some programming or scripting.

It's not too much work. I just don't think it's good for the cable to be shoved in and yanked out a lot of times. Sheesh...I'm not the downfall of society or anything.

Since the cable is on the side you can grab the plug and not the cord to pull it out.

Just out of intrest why do you need to switch back and forth like that?

Because I am at school, and there are two of us in our dorm room. My roomy enjoys sleeping late and I don't wanna wake him...so I use headphones.
