Both me and my mother are in the market for digital cameras. We are both looking for consumer-level digital cameras. I think 2 megapixel should be good enough for both of us. My aunt (my mom's sister) has a Canon Digital Elph s200 (I think) and my mom really likes that. I personally think its good enough for me too but $300 is a bit out of my budget (not my mom's). I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for cameras for the both of us. Thanks

I second the vote for the A40. I've had its predecessor, the A20, for 18+ months and it still serves me well. The A40 is larger than the S200, but it has 3x zoom, uses regular AA bateries and feels more stable in your hand. On top of that, the A40 can use wide-angle and tele conversion lenses.

Get one of these:
Nikon or Canon
Sony
In that order.
Do NOT get any of these brands:
HP
Epson
Fugi
Kodak
I have a Nikon 775 and it is wonderful. Canons are also great.

A "Fugi" ? isn't that some kind of fish ?
Anyway, I have a Nikon Coolpix 995. And I really recommend you buying a Nikon (or Canon's are pretty good too it seems, but I have no experience with Canon (well I once had an Eos 650) I just say Nikon because all my fotogear is Nikon (the 995, and F3 and F90X))

why would you get a camera that is a couple of years old (S110) i know that if you do a search on mysimon for the S330, 2MP 3X optical slightly bigger then the 230, 0r 110 but can be had fro around 250 give or take some.
The reason i recomend it is its a hell of a lot cheaper then the S230 and better zoom then the S110
