Picked up an S900 today at Best Buy. I've been using an Epson 860, which makes some nice prints, but the whole fading issue sux (it came before the "25 yr" ink dealies). So I stepped up.

Some issues I'm wondering if other users may have seen:

1) Since installing the s900 driver (1.5, OSX 10.2.2) my mouse is very "stuttery" making even basic tasks nearly impossible. The mouse and the printer are on the same bus, and I don't really have the luxury of giving one whole bus to the printer. It's the same physical connection the 860 used.

2) Banding. Especially on black/very dark sectinos there is definite banding. Ug.

3) Overall image quality somewhat south of my $90 860. Kinda poor for a 2+ yr newer design that costs $250.

Anyone else, or maybe I got a lemon?

thanks

I use the s900, I run the mouse and the printer through a d-link usb hub without any problems. Did you check canons site for the new driver for 10.2? When I first got mine it did not come with drivers for 10.2. to get best results we use canon paper. My wife feels printing directly out of iphoto she does not get as good of results as when she prints out of adope photoshop.
Might try printing out of other programs to see if that is the problem. Hope this helps
thanks

On the mouse issues: rebooting did not help. However, after rebooting I unplugged the mouse and plugged it back in. That fixed it.

On banding: Kinda red-faced here. I had a saved custom print setting from the 860 that still showed up with the s900. I failed to make sure it was accurate, however. :-( It defaulted to plain paper instead of glossy photo. Changed that and no more banding.

On quality: Much improved, but still just okay. Hard to tell the diff between the 860 and the s900, except that the s900 prints ***fast***.

Any clues on how to get color synch'ing done right? The image printed out not at all similar to what I'm seeing on the screen.

thanks
