Well its Xmas time again and i am scratching my head about what to get my sister, she has been steeling my old CD player for more the a year now and i think its time to get her an MP3 player, I know the ipod is the MP3 player, thats why i have one, i just don't have the cash for it.
So here it goes, I am looking for a sub 100 dollar Mp3 player, with a minimum of 64 mb, and it has to have an expansion slot, be it SD, or a back pack.
So i have been doing some looking proding around, and i can get my dirty little hands on a Nomad IIc for 80 bucks after rebates, and the only other competition that i see is the Rio 900 but that is a little pricy but i like the style a ton more then the creative one.
so whats your input? have any of you guys had bad expreiences with any nomad products? Rio has been there since the begining and i just want to cover my assests, if you know what i mean.

I strongly suggest to buy a portable CD-MP3-Player! It will be much cheaper for your sister because she won't have to buy expensive memory extentions, just cheap CD-Rs. Such a player costs around a hundred bucks (some are even cheaper, some are more exprensive) and the TCO as stated above is a lot less than for any another non-hd mp3 players.
Cheers, Thilo

yeah, a portable MP3 CD player would be the better route & cheaper in the long run also......

[cheap plug]Check the Buy/Sell forum. I have 2 older mp3 players for sale [/cheap plug]
Anyway, CD-MP3 players are a pretty good value these days, but they're not pocket-sized like "traditional" mp3 players. The flash memory- based mp3 player market isn't too great these days, but SonicBlue still has some good values in the Rio line.
BTW, www.dealmac.com lists someplace having refurb iPods for $180. It really is worth it...

well unfortunaly she is on a sony viao laptop, damn gettysburg for haveing Windows only, ****ing ******* ****licking whores, sorry about that. so it will be a mirical if i can get her to transfer the MP3s to the player let alone tell her how to burn a CD, seeing that she doesn't have a CD burnner.
Also can the ipod work off of 4 pin, just for data, on laptops? 180 is deffinatly out of my leage.
well i still got some time and outpost has great shipping

yeah, ipod will work with a 6 to 4 pin cable but you have to charge it with the power adapter.
You'll also have to find a way to format it PC and I'm not sure how this is done.

I have a Rio 600 with a 64 MB expansion backpack, and I would highly recommend a Rio model. It is stylish and works well, much better than the MP3 player I owned previously (JaMP3).
