My brother bought my sister a Zire. It has an IR-port, and so does the Powerbook G3 Wall Street. The IR does not work in OS X, but should work in OS 9. However, we cannot get the palm software to see the Zire, and thus no syncing. Does anyone have any idea how to make them sync?

You have to set both ends to use IR as the HotSync interface. In Palm Desktop, you go to HotSync setup and activate IR. Then on the Palm, you open the HotSync app (by tapping it from Home) and selecting HotSync via IrDA (or whatever it's labelled in the version of Palm OS the Zire has).

You then should be able to do it.

thanx for the answer... but the problem is that it is not possible to choose IR with the hotsync in the first place....
