I got a 20 GB iPod for Christmas :-P One thing...the wired remote doesn't seem to work. I've got the iPod off hold as well as the remote (green dot showing is off hold, right?). None of the buttons on the remote function. The rest of the iPod works great! I have 181 MB free on it...lotta music :-P

Make sure the headphones are plugged in ALL the way.

Well, that was dumb...
When they say "firmly" push it in, they mean push hard.

All's good now ;-P

What is that, when not touching, stops it from working? The ground connection?

The commands from the remote are sent from the bottom of the headphones so if it is not connected all the way the signal doesn't get through.

Over time, it won't be so hard to push the remote's plug in, but when it's new you really do have to push hard until it snaps.

On my original iPod (that didn't originally come with a remote) the remote is so loose that it comes out pretty easily (thus making the remote useless). I guess they fixed this in later models.
