I'm looking at this product as an alternative to an Apple Base Station. It'll be used with a new iBook, mainly as a wireless access point. I'm not sure yet whether it'll be used with DSL or cable, but it'll probably be cable.

Does anyone have experience with this model? Anything I should know about using it? Amazon has a nice price on it right now, which is why I'm asking.

Edit: OK, I'm an idiot. This is already being discussed here http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...readid=133722, though no one really seems to have direct experience with this product.

Should be a very good alternative to the Airport Base Station. Be aware that this model does not support Appletalk, which means that you could not print wirelessly to an Appletalk printer. If you don't need to do that, you should be fine. I have ordered the older MR314 model, which does support Appletalk.

It is totally awesome. I bought one and was so impressed that I got another one.

Previously I had a Linksys for 2 years that totally stunk, my Netgear is a dream in comparison and I can't think of one thing that my LinkSys had that my Netgear doesn't.

The netgear is packed with so many features and options it is not even funny.

I HIGHLY recommend it.

I, too, have an MR314, and love it! I would highly reccommend it, and it's only about 100 bucks! 66% off of an ABS, ;-) But maybe, wait 'til Macworld, when Steve'll announce the 802.11g ABS.

A warning:

I have to give a low rating to the DLink 614. I have 3 Airports and this Dlink at home and it is the worst of any. It has been a bit flaky and needed several reboots, the Airports: none. The range was supposed to be 1800 feet max, but in reality it is far less than the Airport, by my tests.

I do like the Airports, but I will look at cheaper alternatives. I just wished I had overlooked the Dlink.
