I guess this would be one of the most bizarre post in this forum...

I recently got a PowerBook AC Adapter and an Apple DVI to ADC Adapter, both of which has an adhesive transparent plastic wrapping covered.

I am interested to know if it is OK for me to leave those plastic wrapping to remain as is without removing it. Would the heat generate from those adapters cause any long term problems (to the adapter's internal as well as the external plastic finishing, and the plastic wrapping itself) if I leave it on for prolong period??

Basically I want to leave the wrapping as an protection against scratching the adapter's casing... is it a wise thing to do?

I used my AC adapter until the plastic covering got all scratched up before I removed it. However, the adapter ran pretty hot and was cooler after I removed the plastic. You probably won't damage it by leaving it on, but beware that it does get toasty. The DVI>ADC unit should be just fine with the wrapping left on though, no problems for me at all, and not that much heat either.

I've taken it off. I don't have a hang up about the appearance of the power adaptor. If it get's scratched I doubt it will have an impact on it's performance or re-sale value
